Billboards in action

Ok, so a few months ago I created some billboards for a company that runs the concession stands at several national parks. One of those parks is Carlsbad Caverns, here are the art files I created for those: http://michaelmurdock.blogspot.com/2010/05/new-mexico-billboards.html

Well, I just got actual pictures of two of the signs, so here they are. I will post the 3rd when I get it.
Enjoy.

Flyer and bookmark.

Last December I was asked to make this. I forgot about it and came across it when I was cleaning up my files. It was for a contest down in a California school district. I did the artwork and the type in this, and if I remember right, it was all to be done really quick. So there was a pretty fast turn around on this. There is also a bookmark that went along with it.

Not sure how I feel about this one.

Here is another sketch. Not sure if I like it or not, but I figured I need to post something.

Quick sketch in Painter

I want to get more into the program "Painter". It is sort of like Photoshop, except that the brushes you can use are meant to simulate real-world painting materials. Back in the day I took a class on it, but that was like 8 years ago... so things have changed I think.. Here is my first attempt, enjoy.

Girl with Goggles part 2

Here is an update to the drawing I posted a couple of days ago. I painted this one. As you can see. I tend to not worry about my sketch lines when I paint, I like to see them with the color, I think it looks cooler, has a certain amount of organic feel to it, rather than a clean, overly worked image... maybe that's just me.

Toy Story Carnival

Look at this, we get two postings today. Very rare, but worth it. This is a personal project. It is an invitation for my son's 4th birthday party. Got the illustrations from Disney online coloring books and went from there. I think it turned out cool. The benefits of having an artist for a dad I guess.

Goggles.

What would a blog post be without goggles? I enjoy goggles, own a pair of my own (handcrafted by me) and I thought, why not put them on a chick? So here you go. Goggles on a chick. It kind of ties in with a personal project I am working on... kind of. This project will hopefully be huge. I am planning on working on it over the next year and not really telling anyone about it. It seems when i voice stuff, it never ends up happening, so i am keeping it quiet.
